Create the Perfect Hygiene Care Package

This post was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Old Spice. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.

During deployment, you look for the happy, little things everywhere. For me, that meant keeping John happy and in good spirits throughout his year-long deployment to Afghanistan. And during deployment, you need a win.

So let’s talk about winning combinations. Old Spice recently conducted a survey of 18-to-34-year-old men and found that 40% would choose hammers and nails to fix things and 35% would eat bacon and eggs FOREVER if they were stranded on a desert island. Deployment can feel like a desert island, for sure! My winning combination for John’s year of deployment was letters and care packages (and lots of both). It made me feel like I was actually doing something tangible for him that could make his life even a little better. And the combination for success for a happy, clean guy? Old Spice in a care package so your guy smells like, well, a guy from head to toes!

Now, looking back, I have no idea why I didn’t send John a bath-themed care package (even though I sent him almost everything on this list)! I’ve seen so many cute ones on Pinterest and from other military spouses and significant others, but it never dawned on me!

Be awesome (and not like me) and read on to get the dirt on keeping your guy clean with a care package. (And make sure that you see the coupon at the end to make your care package just a little more affordable!)

Inspiration

First, you need a little bit of inspiration! Even tough military men will love this rubber ducky themed box. Here’s a so fresh and clean-clean idea and a splish-splash one to get you started!  There are tons of scrapbook papers and stickers that use patterns that would be perfect– think bubbles, water, rubber duckies, and tiles.

Do a little research

If you can, ask your recipient what particular personal hygiene products he needs. When John was downrange, he asked me to not send particular items because he had no use for them or place to store them. It’s also a great opportunity to ask if they need anything that you haven’t thought of. If you can’t though, don’t worry– he’ll definitely share what he can’t use with someone who can.
