This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Wet-Nap but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #showusyourmess  http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

If you know me, you know that I love food. (I mean, just look at my Instagram. 95% of it is photos of food, with 90% of them being pictures of — you guessed it– dessert.) If you look at most of the recipes that I share on the blog, you’ll notice they’re desserts, too. And usually they’re full of chocolaty, carmel-y deliciousness…

But this summer has been a hot, humid one– and I’ve been craving the fruits of the season, not sugary treats. My parents and sister came to visit John and I last week, which was the perfect excuse to try out a few new, fresh recipes. I’m really excited to share them with you– after all, there’s still a LOT of summer left to enjoy picnics and fresh, cool treats!

For the sorbet, you’ll need to do a little planning in advance for a few products that will make your life easier. You don’t need an ice cream maker for this– but if there’s an end-of-summer sale on them, think about getting one. It certainly made the sorbet freeze faster! (And get into my belly quicker!) You also absolutely need a blender for this recipe.

And, make sure you put Wet-Nap on your list of things to get, too. Wet-Nap is best for cleaning up hands, elbows, knees, faces– you know, all of the places that I probably dripped, smeared, or put in all of the sticky messes this recipe creates.  John and I found it in Walmart’s napkin aisle. (And if you’d like a coupon for it, click here for 55 cents off your next Wet-Nap purchase while supplies last.)

The day before we made the sorbet, we had a cookout and grilled up a pineapple so we could set it aside of the next day. (My stomach is grumbling just looking at all of that delish pineapple!)

This recipe is super easy to make– there are only 4 ingredients. And, if your pineapple and peach are sweet enough, you can eliminate the sugar (or halve it) from the recipe and make a purely fruit sorbet.

By the way– I used Wet-Nap to clean up after I finished peeling and chopping the fruit– they were super juicy and super messy. The cloths are now softer, stronger, and infused with aloe, which made clean-up easier (and less gross).

So here’s how you make it–

You’ll Need:

  • 2 large yellow peaches, peeled, pitted, and diced
  • 1 grilled pineapple, cored, peeled, and diced
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • an electric ice cream maker (optional)
  • a freezer-safe container (I used a metal 9×5 loaf pan)

Directions:

  1. Combine peaches and pineapple in a blender and pulse until smooth.
  2. Pour sugar into the blender and mix until combined and dissolved.
  3. Squeeze the juice of a lemon into a smaller bowl and remove seeds. Pour into the blender as well.
  4. If you have an ice cream maker, follow the directions to freeze the mixture. (If you do not have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into the freezer-safe container, cover it, and place it in the back of your freezer for about 3 hours or until the consistency is firm.)
  5. Garnish with dark chocolate or a dark chocolate wafer and serve to your drooling family and friends!

Enjoy this little bit of awesome right away or pack it into a freezer-safe container and keep it for a bit to pull out for your next get-together (or for a guilt-free treat all for yourself while you’re watching a Modern Family marathon. Not that I do that…).

  1. Oh man! I have got to try this. How would you make it without a ice cream maker? Lol. I’m struggling a bit right now.

    1. Just pour the mixture from the blender into a freezer – safe container, cover, and place in the back of your freezer. The ice cream maker just makes the freezing process a little faster. :-)
