New Year’s was one of the hardest times for me when John was deployed. I could barely stand the excitement as New Year’s Eve signaled the single-digit countdown for his R&R to begin. Still, I sent him a care package for New Year’s because… well, why not?
I’ve always loved New Year’s– another year, a new promise, a fresh start. Everything feels so magical counting down the final moments of the old year and starting the new one with a kiss. For those of us with deployed significant others, it might not happen that exact way. But we can hold onto the hope that we’re another day done, and and closer to a year when they’ll be home.

Nice list! I usually just pack a bunch of junk food and gag gifts.
I love that you do this for New Year’s! So often overlooked!
Great advice for these care packages! I really love making care packages for all occasions. My family will often receive one for their birthdays and other holidays. One thing I make sure to always include is a hand written card. Objects can only convey so much emotion!
