Disclosure: I received compensation from Campus Book Rentals for a spotlight. I only review and endorse products that I enjoy and believe that my readers will, too. All opinions are my own.

Higher education is a hot-button topic in the military community. According to Department of Defense statistics, 84% of military spouses have completed some portion of college, while only 25% have been able to complete their entire bachelor’s degree. Only 10% have an advanced degree. I was able to complete my bachelor’s and master’s degrees before John and I married, but for many spouses who hold everything together at home, their only option is to piece their education together between deployments, training exercises, and PCSes (military sponsored moves). When you add how emotionally draining being a spouse of a soldier, sailor, Marine, or airman can be, it is inspiring how many spouses persist in their educations. My hat is off to them– completing a degree with so many obstacles is a test of will!

If you’re in school and you’re looking for an affordable alternative to buying your books, CampusBookRentals.com maybe be just the thing for you. Book rentals are cheaper than buying and reselling. You can use the books as you would your own– highlight, write in them, fall asleep on them in the library. Shipping is free both ways, and the company has been vetted and lauded by outlets like the New York Times.  If you’re interested in earning a little extra cash, Campus Book Rentals has also launched a new program, RentBack. (Check out the video for more information!) In addition, they’ve partnered with Operation Smile to help provide free surgery for children with facial deformities. If you like supporting businesses who support social causes, you may have found your business for your books!
