Let’s talk about how awesome the USO is for a minute. The USO (United Service Organizations) is a fantastic organization that serves members of the military and their families through a heap of different activities, events, and programs. 
My favorite USO program is absolutely their wonderful airport lounges, which I’ve been lucky to take advantage of when I’m traveling. The lounges are a nice, quiet, clean place to relax and wait for a flight. There are snacks, a volunteer, and different amenities, depending on which lounge you’re at. The USO has many other prominent programs including those for wounded military members returning from theater, caregivers, military families, and the families of fallen service members. Every single USO program benefits someone who is military-connected, even if those somebodies are waiting for a program outside in the rain. (This is a photo I snapped of a lovely volunteer who was handing out hot chocolate and coffee to military families as we waited to go through security for the Prince Harry event earlier this month.)

An Easy Way to Help
This year, Marie Callender’s is working again with the USO to donate at least $100,000 through the Comforts from Home Project. The idea? To bring a little “home away from home” to deployed members of the military through the USO’s Operation Celebration program so that everyone who is away can still celebrate the season through special meals, entertainment, and other activities to help ease the stress of deployment and active service.

Last year, Marie Callender’s donated $250,000 to the USO’s USO2GO program. This year, they’re hoping to donate $300,000 with your help.
This is where you come in. This fall, when you purchase a Marie Callender’s meal or dessert with the very distinctive American flag and USO logo on the front of the box, you can help donate money to the USO. Every specially marked box has a code on the back. Enter the code here; Marie Callender’s will make a $0.50 donation for every code entered.
The program is running from now until January 29, 2016! To find a list of participating products and to see how much money has been raised so far, visit this website. (Spoiler alert: I just checked, and right now, Marie Callender’s is just shy of a $150,000 donation… and it’s only the beginning of November!)
