I absolutely love it when I wake up to emails from readers! And I love it doubly when those emails have pictures of care packages attached! Hayley sent me this gorgeous care package post a week or two ago, and it was just in time and perfect to share for the holiday. (So you know I had to!) While I’m not a mom, I know that many of you are– and many of you have young children. Hayley’s care package is great for so many reasons, but I especially love how she found a way for her very young son to get involved and do a little crafting with her.
So here’s how she created this package, in her own words–
I got the scrapbook paper, turkey stickers (the package came with the turkey bodies and then the different colored feathers), and feathers at Michael’s. I had my two-year-old create all the cute turkeys and then I was going to print out script to cut and use as a stencil for the lettering, but I didn’t like any so I wrote and cut out the words and made my own stencil to use.

Our two-year-old had so much fun making sticker, handprint, and big feathered turkeys to decorate the box!
I also attempted mason jar pies using a family recipe he loves for sweet potato pecan pie and modifying the temp and time for the jars. He said they were amazing (someone even asked if he had more and said they would pay him for one!) and I can’t wait to use the mason jar technique to send him a ton of baked goods when he leaves from his stateside training!
P.S. Check out Everything You Need for a Tantalizing Thanksgiving Care Package, too!
