I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Good Humor. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
If you were in Downtown Washington DC yesterday, you might have noticed something a little bit… strange. Big-headed Presidents atop a double-decker bus, the Good Humor Man, and lots and lots of free ice cream, to be exact.
Believe it or not, I was there too! I mean, how could I not travel around DC with the Nationals’ mascots (George, Tom, Abe, Teddy, and Bill were all there!) and watch people turn into little kids as they got their hands on ice cream? (Answer: I couldn’t!)
That’s right, the presidents are throwing ice cream from the top of a double-decker bus. #joyhooddc #ic #ad A photo posted by Jo, My Gosh! (@jomygosh1) on
Oh, and eat a delicious Magnum Double Caramel Bar? (Caramel and chocolate is my favorite dessert combo.) Yeah, I was hooked.
Besides riding in a bus jammed full with ice cream, I loved seeing the surprise and excited responses of people along the street as we rode around.
It was truly like being in a movie. Everyone had their phones out to snap photos of the Presidents and Good Humor Men as we drove past. There were the construction workers on suspended scaffolding who literally stood with equipment in one hand and waved with the other. There was the hairdresser who whipped out his camera as we passed… and so did the woman whose hair he was cutting… complete with the apron still around her neck. People in DuPont Circle cheered as the bus drove around the circle. At Metro Center, people took photos with Abe and got ice cream lobbed to them from George and Tom. Little kids jumped up and down and waved and adults took pictures from the middle of crosswalks.
If you’re in DC, you need to check it out for yourself. This isn’t the end of Good Humor’s #joyhoodDC tour. In fact, they’ll be giving out free ice cream until August 22! Find out where they’ll be by using the #joyhoodDC hashtag and following @GoodHumor on Twitter. (And if you don’t live in DC, they might be coming to your town– check out Twitter to find where they’ll be next!)
