Military life can often create a lot of stress… and a lot of joy. And oftentimes, those who are in love with a member of the military navigate the relationship, engagement, and marriage alone. For some military spouses, leaning on religious practices like reading holy texts, praying, or attending worship services, can help to alleviate stress and give them strength for the journey ahead.

These verses also can be used creatively during your nuptials as you and your husband, wife, or partner begin your married life together. Consider them for use in your wedding program or bulletin, as a scripture reading during the marriage ceremony, or as part of a speech at the reception.

These 43 verses come from the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible and are all about marriage and love. Use them all at once or pick one that speaks to you. If you’re not sure how to use them, try these ideas:

  • Choose a few marriage and/or love verses and write them on sticky notes. Leave them places that you’ll see like mirrors, the microwave door, and the refrigerator.
  • Keep a journal and write one of these verses every time you journal. Even if you don’t write about the verse, the physical act of writing it will help you reflect on the meaning of the verse.
