A Honey of a Care Package

Communication is sometimes really tough during deployment. Skype breaks up more than it works. We have to work around both of our schedules to find time to talk. It’s easy to misconstrue attempts at humor over chat. And then, we’re both lonely, tired, worried about each other, and annoyed with the distance. We’ve done a really good job (by my estimation) with not letting those things affect us, but every once and awhile, we fail. (Well… to be honest, I fail more often than not. John is so even-keeled our disagreements are rarely his fault.) The worst part, I think, is not being able to hug John or talk it out over a piece of pie (yes, everything in our relationship mostly revolves around food somehow)

I don’t even remember what we both got upset over, but in the middle of February, I ended up apologizing the only way I really can while John’s deployed– making him lots and lots of food. It’s a whole box of homemade food! And everything, weirdly enough, has a common ingredient: honey.

Here’s what went into the box:
I just used yellow and black paper to create the bee pattern on the flaps, and voila! A weirdly themed box of homemade goodies!
